Dance With Me!

As you know, I love to dance...ballroom that is. I was looking at some "Pieces of Flare" on Facebook and ran across some super dance quotes. Here are a few I really liked:

Know what happens when you dance in the rain? You get wet. And maybe pneumonia.

Ginger Roger did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels.

Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

Summer Reading

I plan to read alot alot this summer and would love for you to recommend a book or ten. I started the summer reading The Wright 3 by Blue Balliet, and I am currently reading the third in that series, The Calder Game. They are meant for older kids, but I enjoy them immensely. The first book is Chasing Vermeer. The books are mysteries concerning a Vermeer painting, a Frank Lloyd Wright house, and an Alexander Calder sculpture. What intrigues me is how the author blends fiction and reality - I have learned much from reading these books. I recommend them to any adult or older child and keep a copy of each on my bookshelf at school for my students to read. Below are some other books I plan to read. Again, I am open to all your suggestions; I love any genre.

The Invisible Man, The Time Machine, and The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells
Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin

Aaaahhh!!!

I am so frustrated. I want to scream! This morning I dropped my camera and now it won't work and gives me a message thing that says "Lens error!" Aaaahh! This is the third time I have done the exact same thing. First, just after I got back from Germany, and second, when mom and I were in San Diego. The first time I ended up getting a new camera (bummer...the first was a college graduation gift from my parents), but the second time I "fixed" it myself (I was so mad I smacked the camera really hard and it worked again!). Unfortunately, it seems as though no amount of violence will make it work again this time. How can I do the same dumb thing three times??!! If anyone else has done anything as ridiculous as this, please tell me so I don't feel like such an idiot. =) And pray that my camera comes back to life - I cannot afford another one!

Not a word

Have you ever said the word "funnest"? Well, it's not actually a word so you shouldn't say it. But, I admit, I have said it myself so I can't be too hard on you all. I did get a bit miffed however, when I saw a sign in Florida that said "The funnist place to be!". Ok, if you're going to use a word that isn't a word, at least spell it right...Sheesh!

Florida was fabulous!

Isaiah 1:18-19

Come now, let us reason together says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet they shall be as white as snow, though they are red like crimson they shall become like wool. If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land, but if you refuse and rebel you shall be eaten by the sword, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
